Blues, defined by the legends.

John Mayer has led me not only to enjoy modern blues and rock, not only he inspired me to play better and to sync myself to imitate his playing, he also led me to follow after the greatest blues players in history. There’re many players out there who are great in playing blues, but 2 of the most iconic, phenomenal players that I enjoy are who else? but non other than the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughn (SRV) and the essential B.B King.

Both these players, have revolutionized blues music and become every blues guitarist’s inspiration and influence. Their riffs, their licks, their style and feel are passed down since the day they were playing till now. For Stevie, although he has passed on to a better place, his playing, his spirit lives on in every blues guitarist, and for the king, still rockin his socks and ours off at 84. These 2 players have defined blues music in their way that people everywhere around the world have understood but still not quite understood what their definition of blues is, I for one, will not stop my journey to be a better blues guitarist and aspire to play like these great players. Kudos to you, Stevie, and to you, king.

Back to the blues

well well well look who finally arrived in my guitar itchy hands? a 1972 reissue japanese stratocaster! well I’ve said goodbye to taylor and hi to fender….again. Gettin myself more involved in the blues. Well I must say I miss both my 1st strat- a highway one with kinman neck and middle pickups and a seymour duncan little 59 bridge pickup, and my taylor 210ce. Both have served me well for 3 years each, and now they’ve gone on to better or worse hands I can only hope. Now, new into the family, I give u- my new strat-

Ash body, rosewood fretboard, maple neck, large 70s headstock, vintage US pickups, gotoh hardware, vintage white, chrome hardwares, nuff said. amazing tone for blues I must say, although the 60s are known for blues, but I like the tone on this axe just right.

Great songs, great artistes. What’s amazing about music today is, it keeps changing but yet staying to it’s roots, and I like that. Fresh and new music is what keeps people going, especially songs with great lyrics. Good music never cease to aspire people to be who they truly are, and for us musicians, good music never cease to inspire us to create good music….I can only say two things to all the great artistes and musicians out there- keep aspiring, keep inspiring…
